Wormhole Space -UK Studio Office
Our office is more than just a workspace—it is a creative hybrid space. Located in Beijing’s 798 Art District, a former industrial complex repurposed into a contemporary art hub, the space retains many traces of its industrial past. We embraced these elements, seamlessly integrating them with new architectural interventions to create a uniquely immersive interior experience.
The existing split-level height differences inspired us to introduce a loft structure, reinforced with black steel frameworks. These structural lines echo the grid compositions of Mondrian’s artworks, leading us to incorporate red, yellow, and blue volumetric forms, transforming the space into a dynamic, three-dimensional Mondrian-inspired environment.
A defining feature of the original space was two large circular openings, which we repurposed as mezzanine platforms. A bold blue ladder now leads to these elevated areas, evoking the concept of a wormhole—a space of infinite possibilities and connections, adaptable for diverse creative functions.
